Astronaut- Sir Sly Review

Image result for astronaut sir slyAfter Sir Sly's good and relatively popular first album(which included a spot on MLB 14 The Show for their popular single Gold), the pressure was on for them to make an even better second album. This was mirrored in their quiet 2016 single Expectations in which they asked "How did expectations get so high?" They proceeded to meet these expectations with euphoric single High in 2017 which reached 6 on the Billboard Alternative chart, and cemented their power as an Indie Pop-Rock band.
Now they've released their new single, Astronaut, which takes a slightly darker view on the theme of High. The chorus says "Live a little, dropping acid... don't think it'll ever do the damage they say." This takes a more cautionary tone than High, regretful instead of euphoric. The speaker didn't think he would have issues with drugs, and ends up with the problems related to drug addiction. The song feels like it could come after High on an album, due to its similar guitar and relationship in message. Overall, this is a good companion to high with its dreamy vocals and keyboard, and powerful guitar.
Sadly, High might not be on their upcoming album, which is still to be announced.
