Ahead of Myself- X Ambassadors Review
It's good to listen to the explicit lyrics to hear what the musician's message really is. And with this song, the unfiltered lyrics aptly describe the song- a "shitty situation". Sam Harris sings about not being able to move on to a new lover, which sounds okay but turns bad with its gospel-like yeah babes and repetitious lyrics. The song starts off with an acoustic guitar and moves into weird RnB proto-horns and speedy and unnatural rap drum beats, which makes the song interesting but not particularly good. This combination of three instruments in different forms isn't a very X Ambassadors pop rock style, but more of a Sir Sly electronic indie feel, which Don't You Worry, Honey proved can either be very good or a mushed up failure. This song comes after the okay Torches and good The Devil You Know, but reverts back to their Unsteady and VHS-like pop attributes instead of the good new pop rock of The Devil You Know.
