Flickin' Your Hair - The Hunna Review

The Hunna have been on fire, releasing their smash debut top 20(UK) album 100 in 2016, and two pretty good singles for this year's Dare so far. Summer was good, even if a bit basic/formulaic, while Dare was an absolute banger (if I can borrow that word from their native UK). And now we have Flickin' Your Hair - another banger, but this time definitely different... so let's get to it, shall we?

This track starts with a humming, expectant guitar that fits perfectly with the wistful, low but still powerful lyrics that mark verses by The Hunna, which never gets old. This builds up to a chorus with excellent vocals that manage to be carefree but still knowingly dependent, which are severely cramped in their flow between a patter between the main and back up vocalists, which isn't very well executed. The instrumental bridge makes up for all of that, with its crescendo, muscular but not heavy guitar, and the general riff and chords.

I think this is a decent song, and certainly doesn't let down expectations for Dare, their new album which will be released later this year. It's not quite as good as Dare itself, but the whole album together should be pretty good. Sadly the album will only be 10 tracks, unlike the 22 track, more than hour 100 deluxe.
