2in1! &Run/ Giver Remixes- Sir Sly and K.Flay Review

Related imageI felt really let down when I learned K.Flay and Sir Sly where touring with each other, but then I learned that Sir Sly was leaving the tour before NYC (and pretty much the whole northeast). These two tracks have lessened this, both remixes of each other's song, released at the same time and begging to be reviewed together.

&Run K.Flay remix is definitely improved in instrumentals, with some more natural guitars and basses and percussion samples. K.Flay trades verses with Landon Jacobs, and the chorus is backed with this weird guitar/ electronic thing. Let me just say it again- that bass really adds to Sir Sly's music- they normally don't use a real one due to a shortage of members, and it goes so well with their sound. The guitars do to, matching their almost surf rock music, as if the song was remixed by The Neighbourhood instead of K.flay.

Giver Sir Sly remix adds some some pretty chill Sir Sly traditional live keyboards and shoegaze synths and electronic percussion (shoutout to Raeko, their keyboardist, also a decent solo artist!). The new tones brought by the keyboard completely changes the identical lyrics, but I don't know if it would quite match the amazing live performance she did while supporting Imagine Dragons.

I think these songs are both pretty good, the instrumentals from the &Run remix revealing some new and perfect styles for Sir Sly- hopefully they'll make a heavier third album! One thing I think would work really well would be to release these two song together on a 45, possibly for RSD 2018. Hell, anything from Sir Sly for RSD 2018 might as well be sent directly to me right now, and I'd pay twice the price. Hopefully they'll tour together again for stellar new albums...

(By the way, I just used their tour poster, because it was a bit hard to find the artwork online)
