Simplify - Young The Giant Review

Finally! Young The Giant is back, and they're coming out with an album (hopefully) this summer. I really hope they release more tour dates, because I narrowly missed them at Central Park last summer, and now it seems like all four dates they have in New York are inconvenient. Well, whatever. I can't do anything, so I'll just enjoy their new album as much as I've enjoyed their last two - immensely.The first thing that really strikes me about the song is the range of moods, tones and volumes they can go through in one song. They go from blazing guitar and shouted vocals to melancholy strums and whispered promises in a very short time, and pretty much accomplish it and make it work.The song is also excellently crafted, with all the right instruments at the right times, and very catchy but not extremely meaningful lyrics. The second verse is definetely the best, but the deepened vox echo effects really threw me for a loop, but they actually work. The bridge starts very angry but then gets very sappy, then runs right  back into the chorus and guitar fueled victory lap to finish the song. I think this song could have better lyrical content and better tones on all the instruments, but I'm just being picky. This album will definitely be amazing.

Finally, The Neighbourhood is going somewhere. I Love You. was okay, but it wasn't fully developed and left room for improvement. Wiped Out! was extremely boring, except for RIP 2 My Youth, which was probably one of The Neighbourhood's best songs. And those mixtapes- unnapealing, and getting them nowhere. This new release is a mixtape I guess, but is intentionally called an EP which might signal some difference in its purpose. Anyway, lets get to the tracks themselves. Roll Call effectively uses bass and drums to set a background for moody synthesizer-filtered vocals and building instrumentals(been a long time since when have we seen any in a The Neighbourhood son g)., and breaks back down to them at the end, tying the song together. Wonderful Wonderful(Deluxe)- The Killers Review

It's finally here. After all the anticipation of four singles and a bunch of over the top late night TV performances, the new The Killers album has come out. So let's jump right in! Wonderful Wonderful, the title track and first track of the album, is a gigantic reverberating experimental piece that's okay, but I really don't see its point. I've listened to The Man tons of times before, and its masculine disco swagger never ceases to be the strutting pop rock arena-ready song that it is, a good song for the radio and perhaps even better in a gigantic stadium. This song is what helped revitalize The Killers after their not so good recent albums, and while not matching Mr. Brightside with everything from its opening words to its great breakdown for the bridge, it comes close. Rut is a quiet-ish modern take on classic crooning soft rock, which may be beautiful but would get boring after a couple listens. It may be meaningful but old soft rock doesn't need to be r

Life Is Beautiful- Coldplay Review

Coldplay has had a tradition of charity singles, and they'd like to keep that up. On October eighth, they played a new song live in San Diego(with a broadcast to Mexico) called Life Is Beautiful, to support victims of the recent earthquakes in Mexico. It hasn't been officially released(I don't know how they think they'll get profits from it to aid Mexico), but is easily available online. It features a mix of Chris Martin's energetic strumming of an acoustic guitar and some sort of bubbling keyboard(or guitar based on how occupied Johnny Buckland was during the clip) and sense of optimism that make it fit in perfectly with A Head Full of Dreams. Chris Martin seems to confuse Mexico with Spain by starting the song with an "ole" call and response with the crowd, but I don't know maybe it's Mexican, too.
